Winter Walk Series Recap
On January 4, 2025, we kicked off our Winter Walk Series with a refreshing hike to Split Rock, exploring the beautiful northern end of Pelham Bay Park along the Hutchinson River. Participants enjoyed spotting winter birds and learning fascinating details about the area's history and ecology.

On February 8, we continued the series with a short and invigorating walk along the Hutchinson River in Mount Vernon. Starting in Willson’s Woods Park and ending at East Third Street, walkers learned about the park’s natural features, local history, and ways to help protect this vital waterway.

Our final winter walk took place on March 8 in Nature Study Woods, New Rochelle. We explored a magical floodplain forest, uncovered the story of how New Rochelle once stayed hydrated, and spotted remnants of a long-abandoned railroad hidden in the landscape.
