HRRP & Save the Sound Migui Park Cleanup

Migui Park is Clean Once Again!

Migui Park, located in Mount Vernon, runs alongside the Hutchinson River, meaning any trash left behind in the park eventually finds its way into the river. That made this a high-priority cleanup site for HRRP.

On a gray, drizzly day, four HRRP staff and one Save the Sound staff member joined 15 determined volunteers who showed up ready to make a difference. The park was overrun with weeds, littered with garbage, and blocked by fallen trees, making the path completely unusable. Neighbors shared how long it had been neglected and how they no longer used it due to its condition.

Together, we:

  • Removed 1 ton of abandoned fire hoses

  • Cleared 1 ton of garbage

  • Cut back overgrown vegetation choking the path

  • Cleared fallen trees to restore access

Thanks to everyone's efforts, the park is now walkable again, and the Hutchinson River is a little cleaner too.
